ACTIVITIES

View of Man o war bay

Tropical Rainforests

The Tropical Rainforests of Tobago ( Main Ridge Forest Reserve ) – declared in 1765- are distinguished as the Western Hemisphere’s oldest rainforest reserve – and are a cool 20 minute drive away from the Inn.
These rainforests are teeming with tropical flora and fauna, waterfalls and mountains, spectacular views and narrow misty hiking trails….. visits can easily be arranged through The Banana Boat Inn.

Even without leaving the Inn visitors get a feel for the forest, being surrounded by the lush hillsides of Man O' War Bay whose tropical flora and fauna create a majestic backdrop to the Caribbean Sea.

Bird life here is prolific and birdwatchers can add such species to their bird count as the Tobago Parrot, the Rufous-vented Chachalaca known locally as the "Cocrico", Magnificent Frigatebird, Booby, Tern, Red-billed Tropicbird, Brown Pelican, Rufous-tailed Jacamar, and Blue-crowned Motmot.

Scuba Diving

Charlotteville Adventure Dive Centre opened in August 2007 and is located on the ground floor of the Banana Boat Inn.
Operated by the owner, Caroline, (PADI Instructor) you're offered all levels of dive courses from absolute beginner through to Divemaster. She speaks German and French as well as being British.
Recreational expeditions are available on a daily basis, diving both the Caribbean and Atlantic to get the best of both oceans.

Directly in front of the Inn is a protected, calm, sandy bay where novice divers can perfect their skills and then practice them over the shallow reefs mere minutes away underwater. Snorkelers will also find magnificent, shallow but colorful reefs with an abundance of aquatic life just in front of the Banana Boat.

For certified divers, the north east tip of Tobago is where the nutrient rich Atlantic Ocean meets the warm waters of the southern Caribbean Sea. The result - waters teeming with diverse marine life.

We dive the famous "Sisters" "Brothers" "London Bridge" and "St Giles Islands" - perfect for Drifts, Walls Deep and underwater naturalist dives with everything from Hammerheads to turtles, Rays, Lobster, Eels and schools of Tuna and Barracuda sighted on a vast majority of dives. There are also some great sites in Man O' War Bay itself and trips to Speyside for the Atlantic Ocean are always offered by The Dive Centre at the Inn.

Confirm packages when booking so as to reserve places. Caroline will take a maximum of 6 divers at a time so book early to avoid disappointment.
